Clearance Clerk

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize and implement the latest updates on customs policies and procedures to ensure compliance with governmental requirements, laws, and company policies.
  • Ensure the efficient implementation of customs procedures in accordance with applicable local and international legislation and regulations.
  • Execute the necessary legal and administrative procedures to ensure the smooth passage of goods across customs borders without disruption.
  • Carry out and implement all necessary procedures for customs clearance in accordance with customs laws and specified regulations.
  • Handling documents and providing necessary information to relevant governmental authorities.
  • Preparing a customs declaration for all shipments to ensure the smooth movement of all export/import shipments.
  • Preparing and submitting all necessary documents for the customs clearance process, including shipping invoices, certificates of origin, commercial invoices, and other customs data as identified by procedures and regulations.
  • Retaining completed customs documents and keeping them in designated locations to ensure the availability of documents at all times.
  • Monitoring open shipments for customs declarations for export and import to properly close the customs file with the government.
  • Coordinating with shipping agents and customs in foreign countries to clear shipments abroad.
  • Compiling, sorting, and verifying the accuracy of data before entry to ensure data separation.
  • Identifying errors, inputting and correcting data, or reporting them to supervisors to ensure data accuracy.
  • Comparing data with original documents, preparing input for verification, and detecting errors.
  • Maintaining records of customs operations and completed tasks.
  • Calculating local fees for each shipment and tracking shipment payments and quotas according to customs clearance laws.
  • Monitoring the customs bond account to keep it within an acceptable level and avoid exceeding the maximum to ensure the continuity of the shipping process.
  • Obtaining customs clearance for special cases to ensure the continuity of the shipping process.

Qualifications

  • Educational Qualifications: Diploma in Management, Customs Clearance, or any related field.
  • Work Experience: 3-4 years of experience in customs clearance.

 

Professional Certifications and Training:

  • Jordanian Customs Broker License.
  • Training on Jordanian customs regulations.
  • Specialized training in Jordanian customs clearance.
  • Certificate in Customs and Trade Compliance (CCTC).
  • Branch Manager Course.
  • Certified courses required by Jordanian customs.
  • Recognized professional certifications in supply chain management and customs clearance such as Certified Customs Specialist and Certified Logistics Specialist, among others.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of customs clearance practices.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain and logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with customs laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of shipping methods, shipping requirements, and required documentation.
  • Good business writing skills.
  • Good practices in safety.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Advanced level of English language proficiency.
