Sustainability

Highlights

As technological advancements continue to bring humanity closer together we have realized that our world is not as vast as we once thought. However, we are now aware that resources are finite, the environment needs replenishment, and institutions must lead the way in creating sustainable change. JBC believes that our industry is a critical stakeholder in shaping new and innovative approaches for better more efficient solutions. As a result of this, JBC has constructed its business practices to reflect our values; we are accountable for the well-being of our constituents, as well as our environment. To support our sustainability efforts we collaborate with industry leaders to identify best-practices for addressing waste and emissions. Our approach allows us to always identify more sustainable solutions, reducing our environmental footprint, while maintaining long-term financial success.

JBC Impact on the Jordanian economy

Our presence in Jordan means that we are fully ingrained in the local economy, labor market, and communities. We seek to continuously expand our positive impact and to establish a sustainable presence at multiple levels.
Capital Investment

In 2019, we commissioned an Economic Impact Assessment to evaluate the degree of the impact our activities have on the Jordanian economy. Based on the study findings, JBC’s output accounted for approximately 0.6% of the national GDP, we update this number now to become 0.8% in 2020.

Each year, we invest hundreds of thousands of Dinars in the form of local expenditure. Our aim is to grow these investments regularly to increase local production and employment opportunities.

Employment

As of 2019, we directly employ 360 people. Our employees’ dependents total to 1,296 individuals, which increases the number of JBC’s direct employment beneficiaries to 1,657 people. We also monitor the positive impact of our entire supply chain, which in total has created over 833 employment opportunities across the country.
